Gearing Up for Our 2010 Annual Conference--October 12

SAVE THIS DATE! October 12th is the date for our BOMA/NY Annual Conference and Trade Show--The New Realities of the New Marketplace--which this year focuses on labor relations, reactive power and green buildings legislation. FDNY Commissioner Salvatore Cassano will be our featured Kenote Speaker. Once again, our information-packed sessions are scheduled for the afternoon, starting at 2 pm, to accommodate your workday schedules more effectively. The conference wraps with a networking reception from 5 to 7pm. Sponsorships and tables are available now.

This Conference combines need-to-know information and networking in a way few real estate industry events do, so make sure to mark it on your calendars today! Look for a full brochure later this summer. If you have any questions or want to reserve your space now, please call BOMA/NY's Director of Legislation, Sylvester Giustino at 212-239-3662 or email at sylvester@bomany.com

For the Birds--Really!

Every year 90,000 birds are killed over New York City by flying into glass buildings as they head south for winter. But it's a problem we can help solve by turning out the lights.

For the past several years, BOMA/NY, as a partner in the NY Audubon Society's Lights Out New York campaign, has asked our members to help stem this destructive trend by turning off decorative/spot/event and floodlighting from midnight until dawn during the migratory season--September 1 through November 1. If possible, ask your tenants to join in this effort by turning off lighting in unused or unoccupied space. It's a win-win act; you save energy and lives as you help the birds survive.
